Post your print special sections online
After you’ve slaved for weeks -- even months -- selling ads, writing copy and laying out a special section, isn’t it a shame that it appears in your newspaper only one day?
Think how happy your advertisers would be if that same section could be in front of readers every day for weeks or even months – and in a format that creates added value in several ways.
It can be — on your Web site!
Enhanced Special Sections
Extend the shelf life of your print special sections by converting them to enhanced special sections on your TownNews.com Web site.
Our Creative Services team will convert your print special section into an exciting online product. Every ad and every story will pop out from the page in a magnified, easy-to-read format when clicked.
Special Section Features
Special Sections Supervisor Tammy Underwood says an enhanced special section offers plenty of added value for your advertisers. “We do it in HTML, so every e-mail address and URL is hotlinked, which is a great feature,” she says.
Every ad and story in the section also will be indexed at the side of each page. Thumbnails of each ad will pop out from the list as you mouse over its name. “It’s easy to find a certain article or ad because of searchability,” Tammy says.
The navigation bar can be set up on either side of the page, or it can be collapsible. Logos and custom headers can be created. Spaces for banner and tile ads can be added, too.
“Each page can be set up to the customers’ preference,” Tammy says.
Some newspapers use enhanced special sections from TownNews.com on a weekly basis for grocery circulars and real-estate guides. “Our real-estate product people seem to like,” Tammy says.
“Anything where you have small pieces that you want to pop out, this is a good tool for that.”
Home-and-garden sections and monthly magazines also are popular as enhanced special sections because stories as well as ads pop out, Tammy says.
Welcome guides, tourist magazines, progress editions and other publications with long-term value are perfect for enhanced special sections. You can leave them online as long as you want without a storage fee.
Some publishers find innovative uses for our online sections format, using it display online coupons or even restaurant menus.
Posting Sections on Your Site
Posting enhanced special sections is easy. First-time customers can contact Tammy, their regional sales manager or me, and we’ll have your landing page for special sections set up in a few days. After that, just upload your PDFs to an FTP site – we’ll show you how – and Tammy and her team will do the rest.
“They are turned around within 24-48 hours,” she says. “Most of the time, 24 hours.”
We even can correct mistakes in your print section before it goes online!
“It’s just an easy-to-use product that’s easy to navigate,” Tammy says.
“And it just looks good.”
