Promote your site to generate revenue

Published: Monday, November 2, 2009 9:17 AM CST
For newspapers trying to survive these tough economic times, advertising is critical. An easy and necessary step to take to generate revenue is to promote your Web site to your advertisers.

There are several methods you can use to promote your Web site to your advertisers. E-mail blasts are generally the most cost-efficient way to reach a large number of people. These could include sending out an e-mail listing any new features on your site, analytics that would interest and impact your advertisers, or special advertising deals that are currently being offered by your newspaper.

The Glendale Star (www.glendalestar.com) & Peoria Times (www.peoriatimes.com), both of Glendale, Ariz., opted for the latter, sending out an e-mail blast to all of their advertisers to promote special packages that they were offering at the time.

The following e-mail was blasted out:

Great news! The Glendale Star & Peoria Times are now providing more ways for you to reach your customers.

In this digital age, we are stepping up our game to meet more readers, and that can only mean great things for our loyal advertisers. While The Glendale Star & Peoria Times have always had a strong online presence, we are now working to improve our websites even more. And we want to include you!

Beginning October 1st, we will be launching updated versions of our respective websites – versions that include banner ads and other online ad space. We are now offering several premiere packages at amazing rates, and each package includes a combination of both online and print advertising. Its blanket coverage and maximum exposure for every type of business!

The demand so far is high, and we’re working on a first-come, first-serve basis, so contact us today to find out more.

You won’t want to miss out on this great opportunity. So get on board with The Glendale Star & Peoria Times, where increased business is now just one click away!

The Glendale Star & Peoria Times received several inquiries from advertisers in response to just that one e-mail. Imagine how many advertisers would be calling if a site is uniquely promoted on a weekly basis!

E-mail blasts are an easy—and cheap—promotional tool used to make your advertisers feel appreciated for their business and also to keep them in the loop on what is happening with your newspaper. However, do not limit yourself to e-mail blasts. The possibilities are endless!
